Dear Aish Family, Rabbi-Steven-Burg

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the first meeting of the newly formed Aish HaTorah Board of Governors. We are very lucky to have a strong group of leaders who really believe in the mission of Aish.

The agenda was prepared in the spirit of biblical Joseph. On the one hand Joseph was a dreamer, on the other hand he was the person who set aside enough food for seven fallow years and saved the Egyptian economy. A person must be a dreamer while also understanding what it takes to make a dream come true.

Board of Governors

At Aish HaTorah we dream about things that many others declare to be impossible. At this meeting we discussed a three phase plan for growth.

1. Phase one is to solidify what we do
2. Phase two is to grow our current programs and institutions
3. Phase three is where we get to dream.

Elliott

I have asked Rabbi Elliot Mathias to help spearhead the effort to make our dreams come true. In addition to his role as Executive Director of Hasbara Fellowships, Rabbi Mathias will now serve as Director of Strategic Vision for Aish Global. He will soon be reaching out to the whole extended Aish community to solicit ideas and thoughts.

While we are on the topic of dreams, it is well known that Rav Noach Weinberg, of blessed memory, felt that we should be soliciting partners in outreach from Jews all over our community. It was in this spirit that over 1300 Jewish activists got together at Aish HaTorah’s seventh annual Project Inspire convention. It was an amazing weekend designed to empower participants to reach out to their Jewish brothers and sisters.I have asked Rabbi Elliot Mathias to help spearhead the effort to make our dreams come true. ProjectInspire 16-860-MSaturday night Aish HaTorah Board of Governor members Dr. Stuart and Andrea Hytman received a beautiful award for their role in founding and sustaining Project Inspire. Rabbi Chaim Sampson and Rabbi Yossi Friedman along with the entire Project Inspire team did a great job coordinating this record breaking event.

Life is so complex and we are all so busy. Nevertheless, we can never stop dreaming of the things that the Almighty wants us to accomplish. Aish HaTorah will always be there to ignite our dreams and to make them come to life.

Good Shabbos!
